Bringing home the bacon

Well, being sick and only working 45 hours a week was fun for the two weeks it lasted.

Last night I left with three major projects undone and too many phone calls unreturned. But alas, it was hour 13 of my captivity and damn it, I wanted to be home for 9 p.m. to watch “2 Broke Girls”!

I almost hit a pig on the way out. Yes, Ye Olde Alligator Farm has wild hogs and assorted winged creatures, too. It was pouring down rain and “Glitzy” walked up to the car, looked at me, and waddled away with his widdle piggy tail bouncing behind him.

Glitzy’s name was almost “dinner.” :9

I had Facebooked that this was a fitting end to the day. Of course, then I saw the worst accident I’d ever seen on 95 about a half-hour later. There is no way anyone walked away from that one.

I can’t unsee this. Clearly I was meant to see it, though.

It makes you wonder whether everything in life that troubles you is really worth it. Maybe that driver was just like me, twisting over everything that had gone wrong that day and worrying about what was left undone that would otherwise crush his or her tomorrow.

Personally I was going over my big victory for the day (that took six hours to achieve and most people think I only did a quick proofread and was done with it. HAH) and realizing the one boo-boo I made (and corrected at the 11th hour) in the process that removes all the glory from the whole situation.

You know what? Fuck it. I ROCKED yesterday. And I will rock today, even though I have a migraine and four meetings in a row and two staff members AWOL.

Hour 14 of my captivity begins … but I’m happy to do it for now if that means I’m working toward better things ahead. And I believe I am.
